The Institute of Robot Sensor and Control Technology currently has 11 professors, 5 associate professors, and 2 lecturers, and is headed by Professor Aiguo Song. Addressing major national needs in manned spaceflight and lunar exploration, nuclear power safety, nuclear and chemical counterterrorism, smart grids, life sciences and healthcare, and intelligent healthcare, the Institute conducts research on the fundamental theories, key technologies, and engineering applications of robotic sensing and control. Its principal research areas include robotic force and tactile sensing, robot force control, immersive teleoperation, human–robot interaction and virtual reality, brain–computer interfaces, intelligent measurement and control, and robotic technologies for operations in special environments. The Institute is a key constituent unit of the State Key Laboratory of Digital Medical Engineering, the Institute of Space Science and Technology of Southeast University, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Robot Perception and Control, and Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Brain-Computer Interface. Its research outcomes have been applied in manned spaceflight and lunar exploration, nuclear power safety, smart grids, assistive and rehabilitation robotics, and intelligent healthcare.
